Jeff Newelt AKA “Jahfurry” is a PR / Social Media macher, writer / editor, comics / jazz proselytizer, and serial connector who has “supported the sublime with uncurbed enthusiasm” (his Six-Word Memoir) for 25+ years. He extruded into the comics scene during the 2006 webcomix explosion, concurrently as Comics Editor for HEEB, SMITH & Royal Flush Magazines, Minister of Hype for online comix collective ACT-I-VATE (including Dean Haspiel, Josh Neufeld, Nick Bertozzi, Chip Zdarsky, Molly Crabapple,etc), Master of MySpace for cartoonists Rick Veitch, Larry Marder, Bryan Talbot, David Lloyd, and as publicist for comix destroyer Paul Pope’s DKNY line, Diesel screenprints, and other projects.

Jeff edited, produced, & promoted Harvey Pekar’s webcomix anthology THE PEKAR PROJECT, as well as his final graphic novel, CLEVELAND. Under the Jahfurry Comms banner, Jeff is entrusted with preserving & enlivening the voices of luminaries on social media, as well as garnering primo media coverage, and writing & producing events for heavy clients like Universal Music / ZAPPA Family Trust, Eric Bogosian, Art Spiegelman, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, Vivek J. Tiwary / THE FIFTH BEATLE, Toon Books, Blue Man Group, BBC America, Douglas Rushkoff, & more. Jeff is also a reggae singer, performing guest dancehall ditties for many moons with members of The Wailers, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse and the Skatalites.

Jeff lives in NYC on the UWS with his wife Erica, and two sons Lazlo and Sol. His comics expertise currently comes in handy as “Author Liason” for the Rodeph Sholom School Book Fair.
